1. The efficiency of centerless lathe processing of mandrels can be increased several times compared to conventional processes (i.e., extended lathe and center frame processing), so processing costs can be significantly reduced.


As we all know, the steel pipe mandrel is the most important tool and die in the limited mandrel continuous pipe rolling unit. Through the joint action of the mandrel and the roller, the capillary tube can be formed into the size specified by the inner hole and outer diameter according to the requirements of the finished product. Therefore, the quality of the mandrel determines the geometric accuracy and apparent quality of the hole in the steel pipe.


The axial length of the mandrel is much longer than that of ordinary machined parts (from several meters to tens of meters), so it takes several days to more than ten days to process a mandrel using conventional processing methods. The process of rough turning, fine turning and polishing through a centerless lathe and a planetary sand mill only takes dozens of minutes to complete. At the same time, it can ensure both the dimensional accuracy of the mandrel and the surface quality of the mandrel.


The centerless lathe uses a multi-tool cutting process at the same time, and the polishing part of the tool reaches a length of 15-25mm, so it can achieve a maximum cutting speed of the centerless lathe. At the same time, the contact area of the tool working part of the centerless lathe is several times larger than that of a conventional lathe, and the tool works under fully cooled conditions, which ensures both a high feed speed and the durability of the tool. 2. Another important use of centerless lathes in the steel pipe industry is to peel pipe blanks made of high-grade alloys, stainless steel, titanium alloys and other materials. After peeling, the decarburized layer, cracks and surface defects can be removed, thereby improving the quality of the pipe.


Centerless lathes have a wide range of processing, high efficiency and low cost. The large-scale promotion of processing technology has just emerged in our country in recent years. In the short term, only a few large-scale special steel companies introduced and used it.
